Mayor discussed development and popularization of athletics in the region with a famous marathon runner
Krasnodar Mayor Yevgeny Pervyshov congratulated the famous city marathon runner on his jubilee. Mikhail Kuzmin, the winner of the All-Russian and international amateur athletic competitions, recently turned 80 years old. I know that in Krasnodar more and more of the older generation are trying to lead an active lifestyle, to engage in various kinds of sports, including jogging, sports, and Nordic walking, and we will definitely support and develop these areas, ”said Yevgeny Pervyshov.
Mikhail Kuzmin told Evgeny Pervyshov that most of his adult life is keen on long-distance running. Already ran more than 40 thousand km – this is the distance around the Earth at the equator. Now I went to the “second round-the-world” race, for its completion 12 thousand km remained.

Mikhail Petrovich Kuzmin was born on January 23, 1939. He lived in the Urals for a long time and was engaged in skiing. He played in the team of the Sverdlovsk region in ski racing. In 1979 he moved to Krasnodar, joined the Spartak running club. He worked in the military prosecutor’s office, the prosecutor’s office of the Krasnodar region. Currently, a veteran of the Armed Forces, a former military lawyer, a retired lieutenant colonel injustice, is a member of the Council of Veterans of the Central District, the Presidium of the Krasnodar public organization of physical culture and sports of Kuban. – As I live, I run so much. I can not imagine my life without sports. Of course, with the age, the distances that I run during the year have become shorter. Yes, and now the marathon distance now does not go out. Last year I checked the records – I ran a little more than 700 km. Prior to this, I ran several thousand kilometers annually. But in any case, I try to participate as much as possible in all races in Krasnodar and throughout Russia. I run under any weather conditions. I know that in Krasnodar there are many representatives of the older generation who want and can actively participate in various races, – said Mikhail Kuzmin.
On the day of Mikhail Kuzmin’s jubilee, Alexey Pshenichny told about the decision taken by the race organizers that now all male athletes over 65 and women 62 years old will participate in them for free in the regional center.
One of the topics of discussion was the popularization of jogging, Scandinavian and athletic walking, and sports in general among the older generation. At the meeting, it was decided that, on the eve of mass athletics races, the possibility of centralized and free specialized medical examinations for the most age participants will be worked out.
As Sergey Baranov told during the discussion, recently about 25% of visitors to fitness centers in Krasnodar are aged 50 years and older.
Evgeny Pervyshov presented Mikhail Kuzmin with a welcoming address for the anniversary and memorable gifts. In addition, the administration will assume all costs for the participation of Mikhail Petrovich in various races throughout Russia, where he himself wants to go to the start.
The head of the city also noted that the city administration is organizing the possibility of free travel and participation in Russian competitions in all sports for all sports veterans who are 80 years old.
